Murfreesboro Aviation is Middle Tennessee's leader in Part
141 and Part 61 flight training. We offer an incredibly
flexible array of training options that allow for a custom experience for each of our
students.
Private Pilot
Whether you want to pursue aviation as a career or would like to
be able to take the family up recreationally, the private pilot
certificate is the first step. Obtaining the private pilot
certificate is both fun and challenging and is something that you
will value for a lifetime. Murfreesboro Aviation is dedicated
to safety and provides the necessary training to keep you safe in
the future.
FAA Private Pilot eligibility requirements (Part 141):
- Be at least 17 years of age (16 to solo)
- Be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English
language
- Have a current FAA third class medical certificate
- Log at least 35 hours flight time
- Log at least 20 hours with an instructor
- Log at least 5 hours solo flight time
- Pass an FAA Private Pilot Airmen Knowledge written exam
- Pass an FAA Private Pilot practical flight test
Instrument Rating
The instrument rating makes the complete pilot. Those who
are willing to take the challenge of the instrument rating will have
a better knowledge of weather and the air traffic control system.
Instrument rated pilots are allowed to fly in conditions of
restricted visibility and clouds. An instrument rating is a
large safety and confidence builder and is essential to anyone who
flies frequently.
FAA Instrument Rating Training Requirements (Part 61):
- Hold a Private Pilot Certificate
- Hold a current FAA Medical Certificate
- Pass the FAA written and practical test for the Instrument
Rating
- 50 hour of cross country time as pilot in command
- 10 hours of flight time in an airplane
- 40 hours of actual or simulated instrument flight time:
- 15 hours of instrument dual instruction
- Three hours of instruction by a CFII in preparation for
the practical test
Commercial Pilot
The Commercial Pilot certificate is required for those who wish
to fly for compensation or hire. Whether you wish to do aerial
photography, fly cargo, or even fly for an airline, a Commercial
Certificate is vital to your aviation career.
FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Hold at least a Private Pilot Certificate
- Hold at least a second class medical certificate to
exercise commercial privileges
- Pass the FAA written and practical test for the Commercial
Pilot Certificate
- Accumulate flight experience. You must log at least
250 hrs. which must consist of at least:
- 100 hrs. in a powered aircraft, of which 50 hrs. must be
in airplanes
- 100 hrs. as pilot in command time which includes at
least 50 hrs. in an airplane
Multi-Engine Training
In addition to your commercial certificate, a Multi-Engine rating
is in much higher demand when it comes to professional operations.
When you acquire a Multi-Engine rating you are then capable of flying
much faster, heavier, and overall better performing aircraft.
In order to become a Multi-Engine pilot, you must be proficient
in the operation of aircraft that have two or more engines, as well
as single engine and emergency operations.
