Private Pilot

Whether you want to pursue aviation as a career or would like to be able to take the family up recreationally, the private pilot certificate is the first step.  Obtaining the private pilot certificate is both fun and challenging and is something that you will value for a lifetime.  Murfreesboro Aviation is dedicated to safety and provides the necessary training to keep you safe in the future.

FAA Private Pilot eligibility requirements (Part 141):

Instrument Rating

The instrument rating makes the complete pilot.  Those who are willing to take the challenge of the instrument rating will have a better knowledge of weather and the air traffic control system. Instrument rated pilots are allowed to fly in conditions of restricted visibility and clouds.  An instrument rating is a large safety and confidence builder and is essential to anyone who flies frequently.

FAA Instrument Rating Training Requirements (Part 61):

  1. Hold a Private Pilot Certificate
  2. Hold a current FAA Medical Certificate
  3. Pass the FAA written and practical test for the Instrument Rating

    1. 15 hours of instrument dual instruction
    2. Three hours of instruction by a CFII in preparation for the practical test

Commercial Pilot

The Commercial Pilot certificate is required for those who wish to fly for compensation or hire. Whether you wish to do aerial photography, fly cargo, or even fly for an airline, a Commercial Certificate is vital to your aviation career.

FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate requirements:

  1. Be at least 18 years of age
  2. Hold at least a Private Pilot Certificate
  3. Hold at least a second class medical certificate to exercise commercial privileges
  4. Pass the FAA written and practical test for the Commercial Pilot Certificate

    1. 100 hrs. in a powered aircraft, of which 50 hrs. must be in airplanes
    2. 100 hrs. as pilot in command time which includes at least 50 hrs. in an airplane

Multi-Engine Training

In addition to your commercial certificate, a Multi-Engine rating is in much higher demand when it comes to professional operations. When you acquire a Multi-Engine rating you are then capable of flying much faster, heavier, and overall better performing aircraft.

In order to become a Multi-Engine pilot, you must be proficient in the operation of aircraft that have two or more engines, as well as single engine and emergency operations.
